My Road to Challenge: Training Week 17-34 of 40... It's true!

OK. Yes, I’m still here. And I’m still training – and tracking. I’m not going to attempt to catch-up with the same level of detail but I will give a summary for each week to get us to now… otherwise I feel like a delinquent that hasn’t handed in their homework. At week 23, I hired a coach and gave over control of my training schedule to someone else. It was hard to let go of that control but also, very much a relief to give it over to someone who knows what they’re doing. I do what he tells me, and I do it when he tells me.  I haven’t been wrestling with any back or hip issues since I stopped doing my own planning & cramming …I’m thinking maybe there’s a connection.  So I’m now 5 weeks and a day out from race day… [gulp] …this is what I’ve been up to.

I am disappointed that I fell behind on blogging and, knowing I had catch up to do, I continued to let it slide. I had hoped this would help me capture what I was experiencing on this journey. And the stories would have helped sharpen the memories if I'd told them as they happened... the overwhelming surprise and sense of accomplishment at climbing Richter and Anarchist, climbing Baker, a low moment saved by a Mars Bar on a ride from Pemberton to Whistler. My first ever swim race, on Canada Day. The never ending frustration with my weight. And the races I've completed along the way... my new marathon PR, my new half marathon PR.

Nothing to do now but keep moving forward on this journey. We are a week out from IMC in Whistler and I am getting crazy excited for my club mates who are participating, especially the ironman virgins. I can't wait to hear their stories.
